Dianella Village Hostel is located on the Northern Highway in the semi rural town of Kilmore approximately 61 kilometres from Melbourne in the Shire of Mitchell. The Hume Freeway provides easy access from the CBD and in particular from the northern suburbs.
The Hostel is a Commonwealth funded low level residential facility providing 27 permanent care rooms one booked respite room and two Transitional Care rooms. Subject to availability there is opportunity for couples to be accommodated in adjoining rooms.
Ten residents are accommodated in each of three adjoining houses a feature which contributes to the home like atmosphere of the residence. A fourth house accommodates the Administration and staff areas the main dining room hairdressing salon and laundry. All rooms are single occupancy with ensuite facilities telephone/television connections Wi-Fi and Foxtel accessibility ceiling fans and hydronic heating. Corridors are wide and there is level access throughout the facility. Residents have access to the secured garden area with BBQ facilities.
The rooms are of moderate proportion and tastefully appointed. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own memorabilia. The design of the building is such that residents are able to socialise in groups or retreat to quieter sitting areas located throughout the residence. Breakfast is served in the three homelike breakfast areas of each house while lunch and the evening meal are served in the larger communal dining room. All meals are prepared fresh daily.
